My first idea was to go down a very modern and minimalistic route in terms of design. I wanted to emphasise the images by using a lot of white space to draw attention to them. I also used a grey text box positioned behind the images to show information about the particular location. However I found this too corporate and formal therefore I scrapped this idea.
From this I looked at having the photographs full bleed on each page and having the text (location name) as a feature across each image. Instead of separating the two I think combining them makes it easier to read especially the white text on the bright blue background.
I then focused on designing the layout for the particular bind I was going to use: Japanese stab stitch. As this specific bind takes up a lot of room I had to put a margin of two inches in my design to ensure none of the content was hidden. For this design above I chose to have a full bleed image over lapping onto the second page in a double page spread as I think it makes the design look more considered. However this created too much empty space on the right hand page.
