Pinterest App

Another app I looked at to help me with designing and deciding what features I need on my own app was Pinterest. This is an app I very familiar with as I use it a lot to find recipes and home ideas etc.




The homepage to pinterest is like this, it shows suggestions as to what it thinks I may like to look at based on my recent pins and searches. I would like to have something like this on my app as I think it is nice to have things of interest to look at as soon as you open the app.



The search feature is in their explore category which lets you look through the popular things on pinterest at that point in time as well as clicking on categories without having to search things. This reminds me very much of the explore section on instagram. It helps you find new people/ boards to follow.



The search section shows the users recent searches which is useful as it means all they have to do is click on one and jump back in. Another useful feature is having the 'trending on pinterest' as well so that it gives people some inspiration as to what to search for. I think this would be a nice feature on the app I create as it will give novice bakers some idea as to what to search for when looking for a recipe.
