MESH Evaluation

Overall I think the branding as a whole is very successful, it works well together and looks consistent throughout all the different publications and social media. We all took on our own roles yet we have managed to make a consistent looking brand which works well in every aspect that has been created.

In our final presentation we received a lot of positive feedback such as the design looked as though it had 'been pushed as far as it could be' and there was no other way to develop our design as it looked pretty well finished. This was really nice to hear as we had all tried to help each other along the way and encouraged each other to try different things.
It was also said that the custom typeface was very strong and it was a good way of creating a strong identity. This was Rebecca’s idea and we were all very fond of it so it was nice to hear her work being praised.

However we did get some negative feedback as well such as the fact that the design is too geometric and doesn't reflect Leeds or traditional printing enough. I can agree with this feedback, we initially focused a lot on traditional printing and that is where the name 'mesh' came from, however I think after this we forgot to keep linking the design back to traditional printing and got carried away with the grid appearance of things. In hindsight we should’ve kept going back to the fact that it needed to relate to traditional print as I think this would be made our branding a lot stronger. To make things look less digital we could screen print our publications such as the posters and the catalogue to make people aware that it is a traditional print exhibition.

I didn't really enjoy working in a group as it was hard to get ideas across to people as someone else would always but in.  It was also difficult to plan things such as meeting up as a few people in the group were unreliable and often didn’t turn up. I think group work can work well if you are amongst like minded, reliable people. In the future for group work I would much prefer to choose the people who are in my group as I think this makes for a better team. When you are amongst people you know it is easier to delegate jobs as you know their strengths and weaknesses, it is also easier to share ideas as people listen and respect your opinion more.
