Starwars references play a big part in Wonder, Auggie plays a lot with lightsabers and often mentions the characters throughout.
Auggie really loves space - consider drawings of spaceships/ cardboard spaceships
Auggie always wears an astronaut helmet to hide his face from the public as they always stare at him. He becomes attached to it, however towards the end of the book he stops wearing it and learns to live without it.
Auggie loves halloween as it gives him a chance to feel normal as he is dressed up and no one can see his face.
Auggie has had 27 surgeries to try and correct his facial disfigurements.
Look at constellations and shooting stars (good luck?)
He plays minecraft - pixilated imagery
Favourite lesson is science. For the science project him and Jack make a camera obscura he won first prize
Look at space stickers/ embroiled patches
Shoes- auggie always looks down so people don't look at his face and so that he doesn't have to see their reaction to his disfigurements therefore can judge people by their shoes.
Auggie wins a medal at graduation for his bravery.
