I chose to do an illustration of an axe to symbolise chopping down trees, as M.F.T.W focuses on using reclaimed wood, there is no need to chop down trees therefore the logo symbolises this by showing the axes in a X position.
I then created a frame for this to sit in as I thought it looked unfinished on it's own, the frames design comes from looking at wood age rings and is meant to be a piece of chopped wood. I also added a banner for the name to feature on as to separate it from the design and make it more prominent.
I then combined the two ideas creating this logo. I think it does relate well to wood however it looks too harsh, instead of looking like a home made gift company it looks like a tree surgeon or something along those lines. I decided to get rid of the axes and make the design a bit more delicate and less masculine.
