Tree Logo creation

My first step on digitalising my designs was creating a very simple pine tree/ christmas tree. I wanted a simple base to work from.

From this I went on to add a circle around it as I wanted it to replicate a stamp design/ tree carving to relate back to the wood theme.

I then changed this design to something which would look more
striking when engraved into a piece of wood, all the dark areas would be chiseled out and the white area would stay as it was. Although this idea is simple, it helped me get a feel of what the design would look like if it was actually engraved.

I then added some tools in the background of the design, a saw and an axe to show wood craftsmanship.  However I found this design too busy and wanted to simplify it further.

I decided to emphasises the triangles of the tree and make it slimmer and more Scandinavian looking. I also made the trunk thinner and elongated it.

I then got rid of the black fill from the triangles as I thought it still looked too much like a christmas tree, I find that this design looks more modern and emphasises the triangles even more. I dont want the triangles to look too much like the recycles sign, but I think it is nice to pay homage to it in some way.

I then duplicated the tree to make more of a forest look, I do like this design however I think it is too busy and intricate for it's purpose, when engraved some of the detailing may be lost therefore this needed simplifying.

I decided to reduce them to just two trees as it keeps the design simple but doesnt look too boring.
