Creating your own kitchen garden


10 easy to grow vegetables: 

1. salad leaves
2. spring onions and radishes 
3. potatoes
4. peas
5. mint
6. broad beans
7. runner beans
8. onions and garlic
9. tomatoes
10. beetroot 

Steps to growing a kitchen garden:

1. Be realistic with your aims
2. Start small in planters and boxes in a sunny sheltered spot
3. Rosemary, thyme, basil and sage are very resilient and require low maintenance
4. Go for crops that cut and come again like herbs, edible flowers and salad crops to maximise your output and for convenience of picking
5. Take it slow
6. keep on top of the weeds
7. beware of slugs and snails
8. remember crop rotation, different plants take different minerals out of the soil therefore to ensure the soil doesnt get drained, crop rotation should happen.
