sustainability development

I initially started off by tracing around the existing uni logo to get the correct shape, i then used Garamond to recreate the logotype to make sure it looked the same/ similar.

I then altered it to say sustainability, I wanted it to look very similar to the existing logo so that it was obvious it was part of the university/ a scheme led by them.
I chose this colour form their 'ideas' palette as I thought this was one of the most 'earthy' / 'natural' looking colour schemes.

I then added a sort of plant illustration, I wanted it to be angular and contain little mosaic tiles to tie in well with the logo. However this idea was a lot better on paper and didn't translate well digitally.

I then tried a more curvy line to soften the look of the 'plant' however I still don't really like this either.

I decided to create a more illustrative design as I think this represents the uni and the fact it is an art institute.

I then tried this logo as a part of a mosaic collage along with the other colours in the pallet and I really like the look of it a long side these colours.

I then removed the mosaic shape and had the illustration and the logotype on its own as I thought this made it simpler however I don't think it relates enough to the university.

I developed the illustration further to make it appear more decorative which I think looks better in this situation. I then added the uni name underneath the 'sustainability' to make it obvious that it was associated with the university.

I am really pleased with this design and I think it is a toss up between this one and the mosaic one.
